Hello!
My name is Osei Poku and I am the owner and manager of Baystate Industries - a USA based sourcer and importer of fine African timber.
My family has been in the African timber business in native Ghana for many years prior to starting Baystate in 1992.
Baystate was formed to leverage the Poku family relationships with African lumber mills and provide North American wholesalers and timber distribution companies the quality African timber products they were demanding.
Since our inception, Baystate has established itself as a reliable supplier of African Timber from Ghana, Cameroon, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, and the Ivory Coast. Today, I continue to work with suppliers I have known for years from various African countries whose quality and integrity is beyond reproach.
Baystate only deals with and represents African timber mills who have genuine government issued concessions. This enables Baystate to stand behind not only the quality of product, but also its sustainable authenticity. In addition, Baystate employs graders in Ghana who inspect all shipments before they are loaded into containers.
No shipment leaves the mills without the head timber grader signing off on the packing list ensuring the quality and the accuracy of the load.
Baystate now fills African timber orders from various customers worldwide, with species like Plantation Spanish Cedar, African Mahogany (Khaya Ivorensis/N’gollon), Sapele, Utile (Sipo), Black Limba (Black Ofram), White Limba, Paduck, Zebrano, Wenge, Afrormosia, Bubinga, Makore, Okoume, Iroko, Obeche (Wawa/Samba/Ayous), Anegre, Tiama Mahogany, African Walnut, and Teak strips and boards.
